Funny, I had a semi-argument with John about this very word. I attempted to use the word in a somewhat positive sense, (as I sometimes feel it to be) but his perspective mandated that the connotation demands a sense of loss, lack, and thus is inappropriate in positive terms.
I like your definition here, as it maintains a sense of time -- Then -- yet there is no overt commanding emotion of negativity or positivity. Perhaps there is loss, or perhaps there is celebration; and that all depends on from where you stand today, no?
