Thoughts

 What if it's this, taking the following as a prioris:

1. We, humans, are merely the consciousness of the machine, which is DNA. A way for the machine to know itself. 
2. It has decided to end this experiment with consciousness, which explains the state of the world and the fact that humans seem resigned to their fate (of being obiterated by climate change, or whatever else gets us first). 
3. It was/is our job to help the machine know itself. We did that a little, in some ways.
4. Soon we will be gone.

Therefore what is now necessary is to write what is important back to the machine. The machine is a set of code. We should be able to do this? Or is this beyond the capability of humans (and if so, with good reason)?
